You will have the option to print a Certificate of Completion once the training is complete. Please save a digital copy and email it to
staff-registration@artofproblemsolving.org.
Watch the online training videos.
By taking the exposition out of our in-person training, we can have more time for role play, discussion, and set up. The total online training should take no more than two hours.
The videos are split into four parts, and end with a short quiz. Start here with the Introduction and Academics Training, and you will receive subsequent links after completing each video.
If you stop while working on this, take note of the URL so you can pick up where you left off.
At the end of the videos, there is an optional quiz to ensure you’ve captured key pieces of information. We strongly recommend all staff new to BEAM complete the quiz. You can find the quiz here.
Please note: these videos were originally recorded in 2020 when we hoped to have one and only one virtual BEAM summer. You may hear words like "first time" and "experiment." We did, indeed, learn much from the first BEAM summer and we've focused on using our staff time making improvements to the programs and updates to the handbook and the live training just before the program starts. When videos contain outdated information, we've noted that in the captions below each video rather than re-recording the video. Thanks for your understanding!
Read the Employee Policies Manual for your program:
Read the Summer Programs Procedures Manual. Please also read this chain of command document, which clarifies which site leader handles what.
If you’re a counselor, read the Counselor Manual.
If you are under 18: you must get working papers from your school and should start that process now.
THINGS YOU WILL DO ON THE FIRST DAY OF TRAINING
Sign acknowledgement that you’ve attended training and read the Staff Policy Manual.
Optional Summer Prep
We invite you to choose a book from the BEAM pre-summer reading list; BEAM will pay for one of these books to read before the summer!
